Discover Jambiani’s Unique Sponge Farming Tour

Don’t miss out on the unique Sponge Tour when visiting Jambiani. This tour offers a rare opportunity to meet sponge farmers cultivating natural sea bath sponges, a globally renowned product from Zanzibar.

Engage with local farmers, learn about their farming practices, and explore the intertidal area to witness sponge farms amidst the sea grass and seaweed habitats. Our guided tours are scheduled during low tide (3 days before and after the new or full moon), allowing you to walk out to the farms.

Please note, outside of these specific tide periods, farm visits are not possible. Be prepared with sturdy boots for navigating pools up to 0.9-1.2m deep, and ensure adequate sun protection. If needed, we provide rental boots and dry bags for cameras.
