Zanzibar is a year-round destination, but the experience changes with the seasons. June to October is generally cooler and drier, making it popular for beach stays and island exploration.
December to February is warmer and often excellent for swimming and ocean activities. The long rains usually arrive between March and May, while November can bring shorter showers.
Tides are especially noticeable on the southeast coast around Jambiani and Paje. Plan swimming, dhow sailing and reef activities with local tide advice. For a mainland safari extension, the dry season often offers easier wildlife viewing, while green-season travel brings beautiful landscapes and fewer visitors.
