Discover Mikumi National Park Safari Adventure

Mikumi National Park, located adjacent to the northern border of the Selous Game Reserve, is accessible via the paved road between Dar es Salaam and Iringa. This park is part of a vast 75,000 square kilometer wilderness that extends eastward nearly to the Indian Ocean. The Mkata Floodplain, a popular area within the park, is often likened to the Serengeti Plains due to its expansive horizons and diverse wildlife. Lions in the area are known to survey the plains and watch the movements of zebra, wildebeest, impala, and buffalo herds from the tops of termite mounds or high in the trees during the rainy season. Giraffes can be seen grazing among the acacia stands along the Mkata River, which also provides shade for the park’s elephants.
